Week 3 of Advent
12/15 - THE WORD FOR VINCENTIAN REFLECTION TODAY IS POVERTY.
As Vincentians we are passionate about our ministry and dedicated to serving others.
Lord Jesus, help me to always gladly accept the challenge of helping others.
12/16 - THE WORD FOR VINCENTIAN REFLECTION TODAY IS PERIPHERY.
As Vincentians, we do not stay on the periphery of social justice, we live it.
Lord Jesus, help me always understand that being a Vincentian is actively seeking and being aware of those on the periphery of society.
12/17 - THE WORD FOR VINCENTIAN REFLECTION TODAY IS ALMS.
As Vincentians, we of course give what we can in time, talent, and treasure, to serve our brothers and sisters.
Lord Jesus, may I always give all we can of ourselves to our work with those in need.
12/18 - THE WORD FOR VINCENTIAN REFLECTION TODAY IS GRACE.
As Vincentians, we bring the grace of God to those in need and in turn receive so much more.
Lord Jesus, help me to bring grace, be grace, and receive grace in helping those in need.
12/19 - THE WORD FOR VINCENTIAN REFLECTION TODAY IS PEACE.
As Vincentians, we bring peace to those in need, through our presence and prayer.
Lord Jesus, help me to bring Your peace to those in need, through our prayerful presence.
12/20 - THE WORD FOR VINCENTIAN REFLECTION TODAY IS UNION.
As Vincentians we work in union with each other to do all we can to better the lives of those in need.
Lord Jesus help me to work shoulder to shoulder with my brother and sister Vincentians, with common purpose.
Vincentians have five wonderful Virtues - one for each decade. (RULE 2.5.1)
Pray for God to help us live the coming week, by better practicing these Virtues.
1. SIMPLICITY - By practicing frankness, integrity, and genuineness
2. HUMILITY - By accepting the truth about our frailties, gifts, values, and charisms
3. GENTLENESS - By living with friendly assurance, good-will, and patience
4. SELFLESSNESS - By dying to our ego, in sharing our time and talent
5. ZEAL - By having a passion for the full happiness of every person
The Rosary is a very powerful prayer, given to us by our Blessed Mother herself. Throughout the centuries she has reminded us of its importance, as a prayer tool. It helps us move closer to God, by focusing our prayer and asking Her, our Holy Mother and Intercessor, to take our prayers to Her Son, Jesus - for those in immediate need and for a world which desperately needs prayer and redirection.
From intercession at "Lepanto,” to apparitions at Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe, and many more times and places throughout the centuries, our Holy Mother has appeared, asking us to pray the Rosary every day. She continues to intercede for us, by taking our prayers to her Son, Jesus.
As Vincentians, we know the power of and need for prayer, for ourselves, our friends in need, our families, our country, and throughout the whole world.
An invitation to our Vincentians across the Diocese of Richmond and beyond, who would like to join us in prayer!
Please join our St. Vincent de Paul Richmond Council every Sunday evening, at 7 pm,
in INDEPENDENTLY PRAYING
a special Vincentian "Intentional" Rosary.
Wherever you are, please try to take a few minutes on your own,
with all our Vincentians in the Richmond Diocese, to ask for our Blessed Mother's intercession.
