40 players joined us on November 2, 2024 at Performance Pickleball RVA to help support Operation Turkey and our work with veterans. We raised over $14,000 to help serve the brave men and women who serve dour country.

Why the increase-a big reason is the cost of housing has risen in our area significantly since the pandemic.
Beyond Operation Turkey, Society of St Vincent de Paul Richmond is beginning to see how we can expand our Vincentian work to have a focus on serving veterans.
Captain Kommor served tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and passed on July 17, 2013 at Fort Bragg, NC

1st Lt Rice was killed in action in Vietnam on August 8, 1970 receiving a Silver Star for bravery.
We pray for Bob and are thankful for his service.
SSG Greenway was killed in action in Vietnam on January 1, 1970. Roger's friends say he had a big smile and was full of life.

PFC Lamar Duck was killed in action in Vietnam on February 16, 1967. He received the Bronze Star.
We pray for Lamar and are thankful for his service.
Ken Fuchs served in Vietnam in 1968-69. He was dedicated to veterans for the rest of his life and led the charge for the creation of the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Ken passed in 2016 and was laid to rest in the solemn place he helped create.

PFC John Wayne Hines was killed in Vietnam on September 28, 1970. John served in the HHC of 2nd Battalion 8th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division.

Chief JD Lindsey served in the US Coast Guard during WWII from 1941-1946. He joined 4 months prior to Pearl Harbor and remained until almost a year after Japan surrendered.

COL Paul Spera served in the US Army Finance Corp for many years. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (four times), Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal (First Class), six other commendations as well as the Order of Merit from the Korean Army. He died on August 18, 2021 in Richmond, Virginia.

CPT Robert Tannenbaum served in the US Army as a Green Beret. He was killed in Vietnam on August 9, 1970.

Captain Michael Bosiljevac served in the US Air Force after graduating from the Air Force Academy. He was shot down over Vietnam and taken prisoner. He died in captivity in Vietnam in 1971.

Ensign Robert Hughes was a graduate of the Naval Academy. He died in aircraft accident attempting an emergency landing on an aircraft carrier after his plane had been shot up in combat in 1970.
